You can use the filter panel to quickly narrow your search results by tags, custodians, file paths, and other properties.
You can filter before a search (narrowing down the entire database) or after a search (narrowing down just the search results).

To start filtering, select the filter icon in the top left of the document list. This will open the Filters panel.

In some filter categories, you will see Show all below an abbreviated list of options.
When you select Show all, you will see a full list of the category options (in this case, all of the custodians). You will also be able to search the full list.
What can I filter by?
You can narrow your list by what tags are applied to the documents.
When you select multiple tags, you will see documents with any one of the tags. If you want to search for documents that contain all of the tags, use the search string tag(first tag) & tag(second tag). For more complex tag searches, see the Tags section of the DISCO search manual.
You can narrow your list by which custodians own the documents.
When you select multiple custodians, you will see documents with any one of the custodians. For more complex custodian searches, see the Document metadata fields section of the DISCO search manual.
You can narrow your list by the document type (Word file, email, etc.) and to inclusive emails only. Inclusive emails are those with some unique content.
You can narrow your list by email domain, email senders, and email recipients.
When you select multiple people, you will see documents with any one of the domains, senders, or recipients. For more complex people searches, see the Document metadata fields section of the DISCO search manual.
This option is only available for databases created after December 20, 2018.
You can filter by whether the document is part of a family (family member), is not part of a family (loose document), is the head of a family, is a parent, is an attachment, or is an inclusive email (that is, an email with unique content).
This option is only available for databases created after October 15, 2018.
You can filter your list by custodian, ingest session, and by file path.
The first level in the Ingest location filter category is the custodian. If you select the name, the list will be narrowed by documents found in all of the ingests with this custodian.
The second level is the name of the ingest session. If you select one, the list will be narrowed by documents found in that particular ingest.
The third level is the file paths from that ingest session. Expand the ingest session name and each individual folder to navigate through the file paths. Once you select a folder, the list will be narrowed by documents found in that folder and its subfolders.
Selecting a filter in one metadata field will affect the counts displayed in other metadata fields.

Each time you select a filter, the filter you selected is now displayed as a pill under your search bar.
To apply your selections to the search bar, select the Apply to search button under the search bar to the right. Alternately, you can clear the filters and the pills by clicking the Clear all button.
If you select Apply to search, the selected pills will be promoted to below the search bar. Once promoted, they become part of your search history and are saveable.
