The search builder lets you construct and execute searches based on a single field or tag, or a combination of criteria. Supported search fields are displayed on the left. Search help on the right provides syntax formatting options and operators you can insert into the field.
Building a search
On the DISCO home page, click in the search bar, then click Search Builder.
Search fields are organized into categories:
- Commonly Used: Most frequently searched fields
- Work Product: Information added by users, such as tags, redactions, and notes
- Related Documents: Information about parents, children, conversations, and similar documents
- Metadata: Data extracted from native files or provided through load files
- Ingest: Details about processing outcomes of ingested documents
Scroll the list or search to filter available fields. Click or drag-and-drop a field into the search canvas to start building your search.
- Add additional filters. Click the search operator dropdown to select or, &, or not operators between filters.
- Nest a group of search strings by adding parentheses. Hover over the beginning of the search string and click the opening parenthesis. Click the system-generated closing parenthesis to close the group.
- Click Run search. If an existing query is in the search box, the Run search dropdown provides options to append your search builder query using AND, OR, or NOT, along with the resulting document counts for each option.
Search help
The search help panel provides definitions of search fields, clickable templates to complete a search syntax, and all applicable search operators. It also displays the order of operations. To hide the panel, click Hide search help.
