Questions About Billing
These FAQs provide generalized context, in plain English, about DISCO’s billing practices. This is not a legal document, and the specific billing practices applicable to you will be set out in your contract with DISCO. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
How does DISCO bill?
- For Ediscovery services, customers are responsible for their actual usage during any given calendar month, in terms of both the quantity of data hosted in such services and the review state of such data (e.g., Active Review vs. ECA).
- Actual usage is generally determined based on the greatest amount of data hosted within a customer’s database at any given point. Data that is located in more than one review state at any point during a month will generally be charged at the highest applicable rate for the entirety of the month.
- DISCO generally bills customers in advance based on the quantity and review state of data at the beginning of a calendar month.
- DISCO professional services charges are generally billed in arrears.

What is a True Up?
- If a customer’s actual usage of Ediscovery services during a month exceeds the amount invoiced at the beginning of such month, either because of the quantity of data or the review state of data, then that customer will generally be billed a “true up” charge at the beginning of the following month.
- Similarly, if additional users are added to an active Case Builder database during a month, the following month’s invoice will generally include a “true up” charge based on the number of the additional users.
Managing Billable Usage
Can I see the volume of data in my organization’s Ediscovery review databases?
- Organization Administrators can view up-to-date metrics for their organization’s data in DISCO Ediscovery. These metrics include current data usage and data events. See the organization metrics article in the DISCO Knowledge Base for more information.
I no longer need my Ediscovery review database anymore. What are my options?
- If you no longer need an Ediscovery review database in DISCO, please refer to the deleting and archiving data article in the DISCO knowledge base.
- DISCO Billing is unable to assist with vault, archive and deletion requests. Requests must be made through the Ediscovery Support Center or through the platform’s self-service features.
When will I stop being billed for my deleted Ediscovery review database?
- Customer will generally cease accruing charges for data hosted in DISCO Ediscovery software on the last day of the month during which the data is deleted. Exceptions apply where customer is bound by subscription obligations or minimum termination notice periods.
- Note: charges resulting from data hosted in DISCO Ediscovery software may be billed in the month following the deletion of such data.
Managing Billing & Invoicing
When should I expect to receive my invoice from DISCO?
- DISCO generally distributes invoices at the beginning of each month.
