When viewing a document in the DISCO document viewer, you can select and copy text directly from the rendered PDF image. Click and drag to highlight text, then use your standard copy shortcut.
Some documents with highly complex layouts may have the text layer disabled in the PDF view, which prevents text selection. When this occurs, switch to Text view using the toggle at the top of the viewer to access the full extracted text. Text view always supports selection and copying.
In Text view, the document's extracted text is displayed as plain text that you can freely select and copy.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
| Cannot select text in PDF view | Switch to Text view using the toggle at the top of the viewer. |
| Text view shows no content | The document may be an image-only file without extracted text. Contact your matter admin about running OCR on the document. |
| Copied text contains unexpected characters or formatting | Complex documents may have overlapping text layers. Use Text view for a cleaner copy. |
